Joburgers, today kept a lookout for the red sightseeing Huawei Joburg Day bus as it cruised around the city with your music faves and all the 947 presenters.
The Huawei Joburg Day bus tour made pit stops for live broadcasts in some of Joburg’s hidden gems. If you spotted the bus, you might get a chance to meet and rub shoulders with SA’s biggest hit makers.

The 947 Breakfast Club broadcasted live at 1 Fox in Maboneng with Boom Shaka performing their renowned classic tunes from the 90’s such as Thobela and It’s about time.

Group member, Thembi Seete says what kept their music relevant even after 25 years its authenticity in their content.

“When we started there was no term called genre, it just was about creating music. We were authentic in creating our content, we got content from what was happening around us.
There was a lot of dialogue in 1994 and South Africa gaining its freedom also played a huge role, it was not difficult to write music, music was all over,” Thembi said.
This year 947 and Huawei are celebrating South Africa’s 25 years of democracy and most of all they are celebrating you, Joburger and event goer.

Thando Makhunga, 947 station manager says the high calibre of artist slated to perform ranges across a variety of genres to celebrate the journey in South African music over the past 25 years.
“947 continues to create a world class platform for our audiences to experience the best performers in their city,” said Thando.

This exceptional annual music festival will take place on Saturday 7 September at Crocodile Creek, Lanseria.
